The Agora News Study app is a research tool operated by the researchers running the study, Rafael Jiménez-Durán and Karthik Srinivasan. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.

Who may use the app

The app is for enrolled study participants aged 18 or over who have given informed consent. Each enrollment code may be used by one person, once. You may not share your code or your account.

Conduct

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You may not post content that is threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or unlawful, that reveals anyone's personal or contact details, or that impersonates another person. Posts are screened automatically before they appear and may be reviewed by the research team. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and accounts that break them are suspended or terminated without notice. Any member can report a post or mute another member from inside the app.

Payments

Study payments are made through Prolific according to the study listing. Some versions of the app include amounts members can send to or receive from one another. These are research measurements, not purchases: no real-money transaction occurs in the app, nothing is bought or sold, and any balance is settled externally through Prolific at the end of the study.

Your content

You keep the rights to what you write. You grant the researchers a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, analyze, and publish your contributions for the purposes of the study, as set out in the consent form.

Ending your participation

You may stop at any time and delete your account from inside the app or at agoranewsstudy.org/delete-account. The app closes when the study ends.

Liability

The app is provided as is, for research. To the extent permitted by law, the researchers are not liable for loss arising from its use or unavailability.
